- Benefit Level
- While a local welfare director may not be required to pay more than the statewide benefit level, payments and benefits at a level lower than the statewide standard are unacceptable. Decision: 1 N.J.A.R. 448
- Discretion
- While under the General Assistance Program, payments for hospitalization are within the discretion of most local welfare directors, the exercise of that discretion must be in keeping with the general purpose of that statute establishing the program and may not be used to deny an individual the medical care to which he is entitled. - Emergency Assistance
- Applicant did not meet eligibility requirements for emergency assistance. Despite State commitment to aid the homeless, the Division of Economic Assistance is also responsibl e for maintaining eligibility standards. Decision: 13 N.J.A.R. 121
- Hospital Payments

- Failure of an individual to comply with work requirements when he is aware of them justifies a termination of assistance. Decision: 5 N.J.A.R. 493
