New Jersey Governor's Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for the Governor was adopted by Governor James E. McGreevey's Executive Order No. 77, 35 N.J.R. 5331(a), issued October 24, 2003, but the text of the Code of Conduct was not attached to the Executive Order nor published with it.* The text provided here was obtained from the Office of the Governor on May 24, 2004 as a Word document, and was coded in HTML and posted here May 25, 2004:

The Code of Conduct was adopted as recommended by The Report of the Advisory Panel on a Governor's Code of Conduct (October 15, 2003), which is presented here in PDF, in DjVu format, and in HTML.

According to the Star-Ledger (October 27,2003), the two members appointed to the Advisory Ethics Panel were former state Supreme Court Justice Daniel O'Hern and former Attorney General John Farmer, Jr.


*On January 17, 2006, Governor Jon S. Corzine issued his Executive Order No. 1, 38 N.J.R. 1110(c), including the Code of Conduct as Appendix A.
