WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 6, bearing date of the thirtieth of June, 1947, and signed by me, did direct the Commissioner of Labor of the State of New Jersey, Harry C. Harper, to take possesion of the plants, equipment and facilities of the Public Service Electric and Gas Company, located and described as follows:
Camden Gas Works, 2nd and Cherry Sts., Camden. N.J.
Camden Coke Plant, Front and Chestnut Sts., Camden, N.J.
South Jersey Gas Company, Glassboro Division, Glassboro, N.J.
and such part or parts of such plants and facilities as may be necessary for the purpose of continuing the operation of said plants so as to continue the manufacture and distribution of commercial gas to the public without interruption, and
WHEREAS, the said Executive Order as aforesaid was issued by me because a strike had been called at the above mentioned plants by the employees thereof, acting through their duly elected representatives, chosen for the purpose of collective bargaining, which representatives had petitioned me to exercise the power granted to me by law to seize and operate said plants, and
WHEREAS, this dispute is now being adjudicated in accordance with the processes provided by the law, the employees and the employer engaged in the operation of these utilities having submitted the issues at dispute to a statutory Board of Arbitration, as provided for in the law dealing with labor relations in public utilities (Chap. 38, P. L. 1946, as amended and supplemented by Chap. 47 and 75, P. L. 1947), and such Board being now in session, the award of which will formulate a basis for a contract between the employees and the employer for the contract year July 1, 1948 to June 30, 1949, and
WHEREAS, there is presently no work stoppage or likelihood of interruption of the manufacture or distribution of commercial gas to the public at these plants,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Alfred E. Driscoll, Governor of the State of New Jersey, do hereby as of this date revoke any and all authority granted by me in said Executive Order No.6 above referred to to the Commissioner of Labor of the State of New Jersey to seize, hold and operate the plants above described and I do hereby order and direct that the said properties heretofore taken possession of by the said Commissioner of Labor, Harry C. Harper, in pursuance to Executive Order No. 6, be and they hereby are returned to the Public Service Electric and Gas Company, the rightful owner thereof.
THIS ORDER shall take effect immediately.
